In a previous post, I introduced this blog and discussed the new direction I am taking my photography work and business. I’m certainly eager to see where this new direction takes me. One of the goals listed was to “Create more content than just simply posting photos,” which is part of my overall Blogging and Social Media Goals, which I’ll discuss in further detail in this post.

    Finding Consistency

Consistency is important when it comes to maintaining an online presence, which honestly has been something I’ve failed at so far (mainly on social media since I’m only starting out with blog posts). I’m addressing this shortfall by setting some initial and long-term goals between blogging and social media.

The idea is to start off with something that isn’t overwhelming and easier to achieve. This will help build the right habits and mindsets to later expand into the long-term goals.

Basically, I don’t want to rush into things and set myself up for failure.

With that in mind, even the long-term goals are with the mindset that I’m doing this part-time. I must consider the fact that creating quality content takes time, of which there is a limited amount of.

    Blogging Goals

Initial Goals: 1 post per month, first Thursday of each month
Long-term Goals: 1-2 posts per month, first and third Thursdays of each month

Creating quality blog posts can be fairly time consuming. They require planning, research, reviewing, editing, and more. I don’t want to publish just for the sake of hitting a quota. Instead, I want each post to offer something meaningful or helpful to readers.

Topics may vary, but I’ll try to focus on content that resonates with my audience. That said, since I’m new to blogging, I’m still figuring out what that looks like. Over time, I hope to learn what works best and curate my content accordingly.

My long-term goal is not much different from the short-term here. I wanted to give my self the option for some flexibility to allow myself some downtime where needed. However, if my workflow does well enough, I may try to post even more than what is listed. Perhaps I’ll be able to post weekly someday. Nothing wrong with exceeding your goals, after all!

    Social Media Goals

Unlike blog posts, social media content tends to be short-form and quicker to create. Still, it’s a vital part of building an online presence. From image posts to reels and stories, there are plenty of ways to stay connected with an audience.

Initial Goals: 1 post per week, various “stories” in between
Long-term Goals: 2-3 posts per week

For now, I’m focusing my weekly posts on sharing images I’ve taken. Between those, I’ll post additional content like behind-the-scenes stories and reels, and art show updates. I’ll start posting photos more regularly when I have enough content to share on a regular basis.

Eventually, I want to expand into more content types—especially reels—as I get more comfortable with creating them. It’s all about pacing myself while still moving forward.

Thanks for following along as I lay the foundation for my content goals. I’m looking forward to sharing more, staying consistent, and growing with this space—step by step, and post by post. It’s a journey, and I’m glad to have you here for it.
